Who We Are
We are a group of people from widely diverse backgrounds drawn together by one common thread: Jesus Christ. We know to you that may sound old-fashioned, odd, or just flat-out crazy. We understand. At one time, it sounded crazy to us, too. But we have seen Jesus change our lives and other peoples’ lives…for the better.
So, we are part of churches in the greater metro area. Historic, Christian churches—nothing crazy. We want to love God and love our neighbor. We want to help people and serve them…you, our neighbor.
Let’s put some faces and personality to some of the leaders of the “Here For LA” effort:
Chris Hartshorn is the point man for ‘Here For LA.’ He grew up in Fullerton and his journey led him to plant churches all the way from West Harlem, NYC to the heartlands of Kansas until he returned home to plant a church in Anaheim Hills, right near
where he grew up. Chris and his wife, Megan, have 4 kids that love the outdoors and sports. We should mention that Chris is a die-hard USC fan. (You can contact Chris directly through the contact form here. Click on “Tell Us Your Story.”)
James Lim is from Hacienda Heights and now lives in Long Beach where he pastors a church. Outside the church you might find him cooking, brewing beer, or practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. James and his wife, Taylor, have 2 girls and they like to spend time in LA going to museums and having Korean BBQ in K-town.
Paul Viggiano is a beach bum from Redondo Beach. He grew up on a surfboard and spent lots of time on beach volleyball courts. Once a professional beach volleyball player, Paul’s journey has taken him down a number of paths that led him to pastor a church in Torrance. He and his wife, Jennifer, serve the church there and have 4 kids.
These families see daily that when you get beyond all the stereotypes, Jesus truly is a life-changer. Jesus message of good news provides hope to every person. Whatever your background, struggles or challenges, the real Jesus has a message of hope in a world that could use some hope and encouragement. They know LA and love LA and want to serve the people of LA. They would love to hear from you, for whatever reason. Having read this, send them a quick note and tell them your story.
